Exploring, Angkor Wat, Cambodia
Angkor Wat was chosen by CNN as the spot that should top everyone’s bucket list and the BBC in the UK put it at number two. It is the world’s largest religious building and the former capital of the greatest South East Asian Empire. It stands in the jungle amid a huge complex of other temples; including the famous Bayon (stone faces) and Ta Prohm (the one with the trees). If you’d like to feel like a modern day Indiana Jones; there’s no better spot for it than Angkor Wat and it’s pretty close to home too.
Swimming, San Alfonso Del Mar Resort, Chile
Sure, you can go swimming anywhere but you can only go swimming in the world’s largest swimming pool in one place and that’s at the San Alfonso Del Mar Resort in Chile. The pool there is an incredible 1,000 yards long! It is more than 20 acres in area, holds 66 million gallons of water and the deep end is 115 feet deep. That’s a serious swimming pool.
Hiking, The Appalachian Trail, United States
The Appalachian Trail offers the quintessential American hiking experience and the chance to see a host of states as you do so. Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine to be precise. You don’t have to walk the full 2,184 miles of footpath; you can choose a smaller section if you like.
Eating, Beijing, China
China has one of the most varied food cultures on earth. There are 8 classical styles of Chinese cookery and you can sample them all in Beijing. Of course, this also means you can sneak out to The Great Wall of China and tick another item off your bucket list and then after a brisk walk; what better way to end the day than to grab some pancakes and Hoisin sauce and delicious Beijing duck?
Celebrate, South-Indian Fire Walking Festival, Fiji
