DAY 1 AUSTRALIA - BEIJING, CHINA
Today depart from either Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide or Perth for Beijing, China.

DAY 2 BEIJING
Welcome to Beijing, the imperial capital of China. Upon arrival you will be transferred to the hotel. In the afternoon you will get to the exotic sights and sounds of the city on a guided tour. Visit Tiananmen Square and stand in awe at its sheer size. The world’s largest public area, it can fit around a million people and houses the National Museum of China; the Great Hall of the People and the majestic Monument to the People’s Heroes. Afterwards, visit the Forbidden City. After the tour rest before dinner.

DAY 3 GREAT WALL OF CHINA & SUMMER PALACE
Following breakfast this morning you will get to experience one of the seven wonders of the modern world, the Great Wall of China. Stand, walk or dance on one of the world’s phenomenal structures, believed to have been built more than 2000 years ago. After lunch in a traditional restaurant, spend the afternoon visiting the Summer Palace, said to house the best preserved imperial garden in the world. This evening delight in dinner at a local roast duck restaurant.

DAY 4 BEIJING - BEGIN YOUR TRANS-SIBERIAN RAIL JOURNEY
After breakfast you will be transferred to the train station to board an overnight Chinese train from Beijing, China to Erlian, Mongolia. Please note: the facilities on the overnight Chinese train are basic.

DAY 5 TRANS-SIBERIAN RAIL JOURNEY - ERLIAN, MONGOLIA
Today you will travel through the Gobi Desert and arrive into Erlian. Upon arrival you will board the majestic ‘Imperial Russia Train’ and experience one of the world’s great rail journeys. Once settled, lunch and dinner will be served on the train.

DAY 6 TRANS-SIBERIAN RAIL JOURNEY - ULAANBAATAR, MONGOLIA
Step off the train today in Ulaanbaatar, where you will enjoy a city tour, including a visit to the main square and Zaisan. Next head to Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, where you will find your unique overnight accommodation - a yurt (also known as a ger). After lunch enjoy an excursion to Turtle Rock and witness the beautiful scenery of the surrounding area. Those who are feeling energetic can join a hiking tour to the top of a hill, where stunning views of Gorkhi-Terelj National Park await. You will also visit a nomadic family and be introduced to the authentic lifestyle and culture of Mongolian nomads. After dinner in a traditional restaurant, join the locals to enjoy the night sky.

DAY 7 TRANS-SIBERIAN RAIL JOURNEY - ULAANBAATAR, MONGOLIA
Say farewell to the camp as you head back to Ulaanbaatar and continue exploring. Visit the Gandan Monastery, Mongolian Natural History Museum and Sukhe Bator Square. Lunch today is a traditional Mongolian BBQ followed by a local folk show. Travel back to the train and enjoy dinner onboard as you head into the sunset.

DAY 8 TRANS-SIBERIAN RAIL JOURNEY - ULAN-UDE, RUSSIA
One of Eastern Siberia’s most likeable cities. The Buryat capital of Ulan-Ude is a refreshingly exotic change from anything you may have seen before. Visit Ivolginsky Datsan (Buddhist monastery) before enjoying a cultural experience. Join a local family and learn their ways of living and experience a yurt and a folklore program. Learn how to cook the traditional Buryat dish - pozy, how to play dice, use a bow and even have the chance to wear a traditional Buryat costume. Dinner will be served onboard this evening.

DAY 9 TRANS-SIBERIAN RAIL JOURNEY - LAKE BAIKAL, RUSSIA
A short overnight journey brings you to Lake Baikal today. No ordinary lake, Baikal is the deepest lake in the world (1,632m), holds the largest volume of fresh water (23,000cubic km), is 640km long, and home to 27 islands. Join a cruise to Listvyanka Village and the observation deck at Chersky Stone, which has stunning views of the southern part of the lake. Visit the Baikal Museum, which displays the flora and fauna of the lake. Enjoy lunch and then head to a local fish and souvenir market before returning to Port Baikal. Dinner this evening will be a picnic on the banks of the lake.

DAY 10 TRANS-SIBERIAN RAIL JOURNEY - IRKUTSK, RUSSIA
Explore the de facto capital of Eastern Siberia and by far the most popular stop on the Trans Siberian. Tour the historical city centre including a visit to the Decembrists’ Museum, the “wooden lace” house, also called the “House of Europe” and the most beautiful and amazing streets of the city — Bolshaya Prospektnaya, today known as Karl Marx street. Visit the Taltsy Museum of Architecture and Ethnography located on the banks of the Angara River before enjoying free time for the rest of the afternoon at the 130 Quarter — Irkutskaya Sloboda, a quarter with reconstructed city buildings of the 19th and 20th century.

DAY 11 TRANS-SIBERIAN RAIL JOURNEY - ONBOARD

DAY 12 TRANS-SIBERIAN RAIL JOURNEY - NOVOSIBIRSK, RUSSIA
Today the train heads into Novosibrisk for a day of sightseeing and exploration. The region is full of history and unique Siberian architectural monuments and nature. Visit the impressive Railway museum, Ballet and Opera House, and the picturesque Ob River esplanade. Lunch will be served in town today. In the evening board the train and enjoy dinner.

DAY 13 TRANS-SIBERIAN RAIL JOURNEY - YEKATERINBURG, RUSSIA
After breakfast on board, step back in time as you disembark in Yekaterinburg, a city dedicated to the last days of the Russian Tsar. As part of today’s excursion you will see the Church on Blood erected to commemorate a tragic historical event. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant before heading to a memorial built at the boundary of two continents (Europe and Asia) for a photo opportunity not to be missed. Enjoy dinner on board.

DAY 14 TRANS-SIBERIAN RAIL JOURNEY - KAZAN, RUSSIA
Enjoy breakfast on board as you pull into Kazan, the Tatar capital, situated on the banks of the Volga River. Spend the morning exploring the city on a guided tour including the ‘Tugan Avalim’ folklore play, and the local Kremlin. Enjoy a cooking master class and lunch, revealing the secrets of the Tartar cuisine. After lunch head back to the train, and continue your journey through Russia. Dinner this evening will be served onboard or at a local restaurant.

DAY 15 WELCOME TO MOSCOW, RUSSIA
Enjoy your last breakfast onboard before disembarking the train and being met by the tour leader to begin a guided city tour of Moscow. Visit the Kremlin and Red Square, the head of the Russian State and a treasure trove of magnificent relics and monuments of art. The guided tour takes you inside the Kremlin – the former residence of Russian Tsars. Enjoy some time in downtown strolling along ancient Arbat Street with its numerous cafes and souvenir shops before heading to the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. Afterwards enjoy a ride in the Moscow subway with stations that are more like underground palaces. Tonight enjoy dinner in a local restaurant.

DAY 16 MOSCOW, RUSSIA - AUSTRALIA
Today after breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for the return flight back to Australia.
